I joined the Chiltern Centre in July 2011, because I wanted to help make a difference and give something back.

The Centre is constantly evolving and adapting to the needs of the young people we support. Observing the difference, the Centre makes to the lives of the young people we support is awesome and being part of a team that help makes that difference is inspiring – just like each and every individual young person we support!

I have worked in social care for more than 25 years and in my time have supported children, young adults with both learning and physical disabilities and some with complex health needs.

I was drawn to the service as it offered both short break day care as well as overnight stays.  The Centre has given me experiences and the
opportunity to support and work with a larger number of individuals and their families

I have over 20 years experience working in the Care Sector, working with both adults with challenging behaviour, the elderly with dementia and children with learning disabilities

I feel it is important to enjoy taking care of people if that is the type of career path you have chosen to follow.  I enjoy building relationships with the people I care for, and gaining their trust and an understanding of their needs.

I was looking for a new opportunity and came across the Chiltern Centre website.

I wanted to work here because this organization's values align with my own. I was impressed with the work they do to improve young person’s outcomes and enhance the quality of care. I believe that the Centre is a place where I can make a meaningful contribution

I have worked at Chiltern Centre since 2006. Being a mum myself, I know that there are times when any caregiver needs help or a break.

It is nice to know that I am part of the team that the families trust to take care of their loved ones. We are privileged to get to know the people we support really well. I love seeing the young people each day and hearing of all the fun things they get up to!

I love the home from home feel of the Chiltern Centre. The young people we support and our care team inspire me on a daily basis.

I have over 30 years of experience in admin/secretarial roles and spent 10 years working as Office Manager in a primary school in Caversham.

I originally applied in 2015 but was pipped at the post, so when I saw The Chiltern Centre were re-advertising for an Administrator I was very keen to apply. 

I love what the Centre has to offer the people we support and although working in an admin role was keen to be a part of what we can offer families who use our services.

I am fortunate to be part of such a wonderful team.

I have a lifetime of experience in events but wanted to add more value to my life and career, so when I knew that the community fundraiser role at the Centre was vacant I was immediately excited at what could be. Having raised money for them voluntarily in previous years and knowing how much joy that brought me I knew this was the career side step I was looking for. 

Everyone who I had already met and interacted with at the Centre was so happy to be there, admin staff, carers, user and family alike. It is testament to the amazing work that they do and just how much the Centre is valued by all. Let the fundraising begin! 

I chose to work for The Chiltern Centre because of the incredible work it does in supporting young adults with disabilities to live more independent and fulfilling lives.

I’m passionate about using digital platforms to share the Centre’s stories, and raise awareness of the Centre’s impact. Being able to combine my professional skills with a cause that makes such a big difference is something I find both rewarding and motivating.
